Surfory Privacy Policy

How Surfory handles your information and your on-device content.

Effective Date: August 27, 2026
Last Updated: August 27, 2026

Overview

Surfory is a local-first, offline application for recording personal surf stories, managing surf gear, browsing bundled fictional coastal-community content, and creating short Studio clips from selected photos.

Surfory does not require you to create an online account and does not operate a live social network, messaging service, matching service, or user-to-user communication system. Your profile information, personal stories, notes, media, gear records, report/block preferences, and on-device Points ledger are intended to remain stored locally on your device unless you choose to export or share content yourself.

Important: Bundled community profiles and seed stories in Surfory are fictional/sample content. They are not live user accounts and do not represent real-time activity from a social network.

1. Information Surfory Handles

Depending on how you use the app, Surfory may process the following information locally on your device:

Surfory is designed so that this content is stored and processed on the device for the core app experience.

2. Local Storage and Offline Operation

Surfory is designed as a local-first application. The app's core content, including your personal stories, profile, media, gear records, favorites, local moderation preferences, and Points ledger, is stored on the device.

Surfory does not provide a user account system or a cloud-based social service for synchronizing your personal content with other Surfory users. Your personal content is not automatically posted to a public Surfory feed.

Some device or operating-system services, including Apple's App Store, StoreKit, App Tracking Transparency, notification services, and the sharing destinations you select, may involve Apple or third-party systems under their own policies.

3. Device Permissions

Notifications

Surfory may request permission to send local notifications. If you grant permission, notifications may be used for app-related reminders or scheduled local events. You can change this permission at any time in your device settings.

App Tracking Transparency

Surfory may present Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission prompt after a short delay following launch. Your response is handled through the system permission flow. You may allow or decline tracking as presented by iOS.

Camera

Surfory requests Camera access only when you choose a feature that captures a new photo using the device camera.

Photo Library

Surfory requests Photo Library access only when you choose to select photos from your library or when a selected export action requires access to save content to your Photos library. The specific level of access is controlled by iOS and the permissions you grant.

Microphone

Surfory requests Microphone access only when you choose to record a voice note. Audio recording is used for the feature you initiate.

4. App Tracking Transparency

Where required by Apple and applicable law, Surfory requests permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework before accessing an advertising identifier for tracking purposes.

If you decline tracking, Surfory will respect the system-level tracking choice. You can review or change relevant permissions through iOS settings, subject to the controls provided by your device and Apple.

This Privacy Policy does not expand the meaning of Apple's system permission prompt. The exact scope of App Tracking Transparency is governed by Apple's platform controls and applicable law.

5. In-App Purchases and Points

Surfory offers six consumable Points packs: Spark, Glow, Pulse, Orbit, Nova, and Galaxy. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit.

Surfory does not receive your full payment-card number or other payment credentials. Purchase processing is governed by Apple and the terms and privacy practices applicable to your Apple account and App Store use.

Points are consumable. In Surfory, 100 Points are required for each successful Studio clip export. The app maintains the relevant Points balance locally on the device for use within the app. Consumable Points cannot be restored after consumption and may be unavailable after deleting the app, resetting the device, or otherwise removing local app data.

6. Fictional and Sample Content

Surfory includes bundled fictional adult surfer profiles, seed stories, community notes, and related simulated activity so the app can be explored immediately without connecting to a live community.

Fictional profiles are labeled within the app. Simulated activity is generated from bundled or local rules and is not evidence of communication with real Surfory users.

Blocking a fictional profile or reporting bundled fictional content changes the app's local presentation and preferences on your device. These actions are not messages sent to a real profile owner.

7. Report and Block Features

Surfory provides local report and block controls for bundled fictional community content. When you report supported content, the reported content may be hidden from the app's local presentation immediately.

Because the community content is fictional and the app does not provide a live user-to-user network, these local controls do not send a report to a real content publisher or create communication with another Surfory user.

8. Exporting and Sharing

Surfory allows you to create local Studio clips and may allow you to use your device's standard sharing features. When you explicitly export, save, or share content, you choose the destination and may cause information to leave Surfory.

Once content is transferred to another app, service, person, or platform, that recipient's privacy practices and terms may apply. Please review the destination's policies before sharing personal content.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Surfory generally retains locally stored content for as long as it remains on your device and within the app, subject to available device storage and your actions.

You may delete individual stories, media, notes, gear records, or other supported items using the controls provided in the app. Deleting the app may remove app data stored locally on the device, subject to how iOS, backups, or other device services handle data.

You should maintain any personal backups you want to keep. Consumable Points are not restorable merely because they were consumed, and local Points information may be lost when local app data is removed.

10. Children's Privacy

Surfory is not directed to children under the age required to independently use the app under applicable law and Apple's platform rules. The bundled fictional community content uses adult fictional profiles.

Because Surfory does not provide user accounts or a live user community, the app does not intentionally collect personal information from children through an online Surfory registration or social-network service.

11. Security

Surfory uses the protections available through the operating system and the app's local data architecture to help protect information stored and used by the app. However, no method of electronic storage or device security can guarantee absolute security.

You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security for your device, including using device passcodes, biometric protection, and current system software where available.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Surfory's features, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated version will be made available through the app or another appropriate location and will include an updated effective date where applicable.
